News in brief:
More than 91 per cent of Central Queensland Institute of TAFE graduates were employed or in further study after completing their training, according to the National Centre for Vocational Education Research (NCVER).
News in detail:
The NCVER released its Student Outcomes for Central Queensland Institute of TAFE Survey 2011 in December. The statistics complied were as at 27 May 2011.
The survey revealed the percentage of employment outcomes and training satisfaction at CQ TAFE was higher than other TAFE's and Vocational Education and Training providers in Queensland and Australia.
CQ TAFE Institute Director Gary Kinnon said 91 per cent of graduates were satisfied with the overall quality of their training.
"The survey also showed 92.7 per cent said they fully or partly achieved their main reason for training," Mr Kinnon said.
Mr Kinnon said the statistics on the percentage of CQ students being "employed or in further study after successfully completing their training", put the Institute in good stead.
"The figures stand up well when compared to all of TAFE Queensland, which attained 87.1 per cent and all VET providers, which attained 85.1 per cent for the same outcome," he said.
The CQ TAFE figures are an improvement on the previous NCVER survey conducted in 2009, which at that time, placed student satisfaction at 90 per cent and employment/training outcomes at 88.3 per cent.
Mr Kinnon said the survey also showed that the mean gross annual salaries of CQ TAFE graduates in full-time employment after training was $73,251 compared to $55,398 for graduates from TAFE Queensland overall.
"In fact, the mean gross salary for CQ TAFE graduates had increased 23.8 per cent from $59,159 since the last survey in 2009," he said.
Mr Kinnon said the largest age group of CQ TAFE graduates was aged between 25 to 44 years (37 per cent), closely followed by 45 to 64 years (22.8 per cent) and 20 to 24 years (22.4 per cent).
"This survey is a great indication of CQ TAFE's capacity to deliver quality industry-relevant training that is not only flexible, but also leads to real pathways to employment, career advancement and further study," Mr Kinnon said.
He said for those people considering their career or training prospects in 2012, they should contact the Institute on 1300 27 8233.
