TAFE tees off NAIDOC Week 2008

Thursday, 29 May 2008 4:43PM - Mackay Campus

News in brief:

NAIDOC Week 2008 will tee off in Mackay with the annual CQ TAFE Bro-Am Golf Day on July 5 at Melaleuca Golf Club.

News in detail:

CQ TAFE Manager Indigenous and South Sea Islander Programs Dion Barnett said the fun day out would be the first event of the busy NAIDOC Week social calendar.

"This year's NAIDOC Week theme is Advance Australia Fair and we'll be advancing on the fairways," he said.

The four-ball Ambrose event gets under way early with a shotgun start, followed by a sausage sizzle lunch and the presentation of trophies.

"It provides a great chance for CQ TAFE to create stronger community links and celebrate NAIDOC week at the same time.

"It's always a really fun day and is well received every year. I would particularly like to see more ladies involved."

Radio station MY105.9 will broadcast live from the event.

CQ TAFE will also have a stall at the NAIDOC Family Fun Day at Queens Park in Mackay on Friday, 11 July.

Mr Barnett encouraged those at the Family Fun Day to visit the stall and speak to staff about TAFE programs and related career pathways.  Certificate III in Education Support (Indigenous) students will be undertaking fun activities with children on the day.

To book a team in the golf day, please call Megan Durante on 4940 3345 or Tanya Duroux 4040 3393.
