Training Infrastructure Investment for Tomorrow (TIIFT) and Better TAFE Facilities (BTF) projects

What are the projects?

Central Queensland Institute of TAFE has been allocated $8.7 million in federal government funding as part of the Teaching and Learning Capital Fund.

The funding will support two significant projects for CQ TAFE:

Which campuses will receive funding?

All four major regional campuses and the Yeppoon and Callide-Dawson campuses have received funding to upgrade infrastructure and establish new Simulated Skills Centres.

In Mackay, on 23 June, Member for Dawson James Bidgood announced that the Mackay campus would receive more than $2.6 million to establish an Automotive and Electrical Simulated Skills Centre. Earlier on 4 June, Mr Bidgood announced more than $1.9 million to refurbish facilities at E-Block.

"This will help secure economic activity, assist in addressing the impacts of the economic downturn and increase the capacity of the local training sector over the longer term to meet future skills needs," Mr Bidgood said.

At Callide-Dawson campus in Biloela, Member for Flynn Chris Trevor delivered $50,000 to improve facilities at the campus. "I am pleased to be able to provide top rate local facilities for the students and staff of Biloela TAFE," Mr Trevor said. Gladstone campus is set to receive $295,000 to establish a skills centre.

Central Highlands campus in Emerald also received $280,000 for a skills centre. Rockhampton campus on Canning Street was awarded $1.63 million to establish the CQIT Green Skills Centre, which will incorporate environmental sustainable components, including shading, insulation and other energy efficient techniques to showcase the trade and green skills training program from the campus.

Yeppoon campus also received $100,000 for infrastructure.
