How to apply

Step 1: Application form
Complete a Central Queensland Institute of TAFE application form for international students [PDF 26kb]. You will also need to supply the following supporting documents:

educational certificates and academic records
-
evidence of employment history (if applicable)
-
references from employers (if applicable)
-
portfolio of artwork (if applicable)
-
passport sized photograph; and
-
English language test results (International English Language Testing Systems - IELTS, Test of English as a Foreign Language - TOEFL, or International Second Language Proficiency Rating - ISLPR) (if available)

copy of passport and current visa if available.
You must provide all of the documentation needed to support your application (certified or notarised copies). This is required by DIAC and CQ TAFE to ensure that your application is processed promptly.
Fax or Airmail this information to the CQ TAFE International Student Support Officer.
Step 2: Assessment of application/offer of place
CQ TAFE will assess your application and issue you with an Offer of Place. This may be a conditional offer made on the basis that you meet certain conditions or requirements. Before the expiry date of the offer you should:

pay the tuition fees and Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC) as stated on your offer of place

OSHC is not directly issued to the student until he or she arrives at CQIT.

read the attached Refund and Transfer Agreement Form and Terms and Conditions of Study forms and then sign and return

send the required documentation to show that conditions have been met (if your offer is conditional). If you are unable to provide this documentation before the expiry date, please contact the International Student Support Officer.
Step 3: Documentation forwarded to student
CQ TAFE will send you:

receipt for your payment
-
CQ TAFE Confirmation of Enrolment for International Students form (if you meet all conditions)

we will forward your payment and details to Medibank Private. Before your program starts, CQ TAFE will contact you regarding details of your chosen program and student orientation. If you choose to pay your own OSHC then it will be your responsibility to ensure that you are covered with your nominated provider for the duration of your program.
Step 4: Applying for your student visa
Apply to the Australian Embassy/Consulate/High Commission in your country. Your application must have attached:

receipt from CQ TAFE
-
confirmation of enrolment for International Students
-
offer of place
-
results of your X-ray and Medical Examinations (Please verify with DIAC if this is necessary)
-
arrange your travel after collecting your student visa.
Step 5: Orientation and program information
Complete orientation with your specified faculty at CQ TAFE. Please contact the CQ TAFE International Student Support Officer prior to your commencement date if you are unable to commence your program on the nominated date.
Please contact the CQ TAFE International Student Support Officer if you arrive in the country early and would like to have a tour of where your program is located within CQ TAFE.
Step 6: Final completion of application for Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC)
On your arrival in Australia, the CQ TAFE International Student Support Officer will contact you concerning the finalisation of your OSHC. Once all details are verified by CQ TAFE, your membership card will be sent directly to CQ TAFE approximately 5 - 10 working days later and forwarded to you at your current address. Other arrangements can be made by contacting the ISSO.
Please advise the CQ TAFE International Student Support Officer if you do not receive your Overseas Health Cover card.
Please note: Your payment for OSHC must be made prior to arriving in Australia.
